The Up Swing!

     This volleyball season we have matched the definition of roller coaster. We have had great games where everyone has been checked in and we have had games where nothing goes our way. This season has been full of unexpected twists and turns. Last week our starting setter sprained her ankle leaving us with only one setter. This called for our 5th year retired setter from last year to get called up to dress for our game on Saturday. We played University of Mount Union, Mount Union has had a year full of new found successes for them. They swept the #8 team in the country, a team we lost to in four sets. Needless to say, we went into this game not knowing where we were going to be on the roller coaster. We started warmups with visible joy on the court. This is something the team has been working on, volleyball should not be a job, it should be what brings you joy. The teams energy was contagious, with all of this positivity we started the game off with a bang. Every set we went through we got more and more powerful. The crushed their confidence more and more as the game went on. We finished the Match 3-0 which was such a powerful start in the OAC. I hope that this energy stay for the rest of the season helping us power through a tough conference competition this season. This win was definitely a jump start to a successful OAC season.

    Hi Sydney, I am sorry to hear about your setter. I would she gets well soon. I can definitely relate to the roller coaster of the season. Football is sort of the same way. I definitely think that it really just prepares us for life. Life is full of unexpected things that we have to learn to deal with. College athletics are great building blocks for life.

    Hey Sydney, great to hear about the successes of the volleyball team!! Having a personal vendetta against Mount, anytime we beat them is great. I HATE purple!

    Hi Sydney, that is exciting that you guys have found success recently on the volleyball team. I have gone to a few of the games and you guys seem to be a well-connected team. I think it is a good mindset to think of a season as a roller coaster because no matter what we will have highs and lows. I hope you guys are able to continue to ride the previous win and get to a new "high."

    This weekend the volleyball team and the Ada community celebrated 50 years of Title IX. Title IX is something we as college students hear about all the time but never really understood what it meant. That was until this weekend, generations upon generations of Ohio Northern Volleyball Alum came to our tournament an home over the weekend and stayed for a get together and story telling at the inn afterwards.       Once we arrived at the inn the alumni started pouring in. It was great to talk to them and hear all about their time at ONU and about how much has changed. Then the speeches started and so did the water works. It began with Coach Kuhn talking about the history and then inviting up our new university President. Our President talked about how Title IX has effected her life, she is the first women president her at Ohio Northern which is a monumental mark in our history. Real Life

      I am loving the simulation that we have been assigned, It has been my favorite part of Intro to Social Media thus far. I enjoy being able to put all of the knowledge I have gained in my four years into place and instantaneously being able to see the impact. The post results that you get after running the simulation are so informational and help you form your next posts to be successful. We get to create our own social media posts and post during a specific time on specific platforms. This is what I am planning to go into in the professional world therefore all of this practice is very beneficial. I love the VP assigning us tasks and explaining our goals. My other favorite part is being able to test what I have learned in this class with my communications with the customers. The messaging back and forth and answering their questions in so fun for me because in every job the social aspect is always my favorite part. Sim

 We finished the simulation this week and I have touched on many times how much I enjoyed the sim. I cant express enough how much I learned from it and how thankful I am to be able to have that opportunity. I loved how it got more and more difficult as we moved forward the same way that a job will get more and more difficult the more responsibilities that they put on you. We have learned all the different areas of all different social media platforms all year and throughout learning about them and being able to work with them at the same time was amazing. I have touched on how I enjoy working in social media before and hope that its in my future job but now I am applying to social media jobs because I felt that I could succeed with that career.
