New Responsibilities

 Learning about Instagram this week in class was very fun for me. With my internship this summer I worked primarily by posting on Instagram. This is something I truly enjoyed, especially being able to see all of the analytics of your postings. With my internship concluding in August I began doing the social media for the volleyball team here at Ohio North University. I held a media day during preseason to take all of the pictures. Now I am using those pictures to post score updates on our stories as well as letting our followers know when the games are. 

    This was such a success that we are having to hold another media day due to us using all of the pictures we already took. I am so excited for this one because I have researched different poses that will look cute and now know what kinds of pictures people enjoy. This makes me so excited to be able to see what I am doing benefit others. I have gotten complements from fellow students and especially parents because if they are busy they can now just go on Instagram to see how we are doing during games. This just reinsures that I am in the right major and field. Enjoying your job is not a normal thing in this world and I am so blessed to already know I am enjoying it. I hope that when I enter the professional world my love for social media and marketing does not change.

    Sydney, I have also noticed the work you've done with the volleyball team's Instagram, and I enjoy the score updates on the story. You're doing a very good job and keep it up!

    Hello Syd, I think that you do a great job with the ONU volleyball Instagram. As you know I am usually at the game or watching in person. However, after the game I always get on Instagram to see what is posted on the Volleyball account. I always find the content great and easy to follow along with. Keep up the good work.

    This is awesome to see Sydney! It sounds like a dream to be able to work around your friends and enjoy it as well. Having a good idea of what you like and how to do it is something that not everyone has. Keep up the great work!

    This weekend the volleyball team and the Ada community celebrated 50 years of Title IX. Title IX is something we as college students hear about all the time but never really understood what it meant. That was until this weekend, generations upon generations of Ohio Northern Volleyball Alum came to our tournament an home over the weekend and stayed for a get together and story telling at the inn afterwards.       Once we arrived at the inn the alumni started pouring in. It was great to talk to them and hear all about their time at ONU and about how much has changed. Then the speeches started and so did the water works. It began with Coach Kuhn talking about the history and then inviting up our new university President. Our President talked about how Title IX has effected her life, she is the first women president her at Ohio Northern which is a monumental mark in our history. Real Life

      I am loving the simulation that we have been assigned, It has been my favorite part of Intro to Social Media thus far. I enjoy being able to put all of the knowledge I have gained in my four years into place and instantaneously being able to see the impact. The post results that you get after running the simulation are so informational and help you form your next posts to be successful. We get to create our own social media posts and post during a specific time on specific platforms. This is what I am planning to go into in the professional world therefore all of this practice is very beneficial. I love the VP assigning us tasks and explaining our goals. My other favorite part is being able to test what I have learned in this class with my communications with the customers. Sim

 We finished the simulation this week and I have touched on many times how much I enjoyed the sim. I cant express enough how much I learned from it and how thankful I am to be able to have that opportunity. I loved how it got more and more difficult as we moved forward the same way that a job will get more and more difficult the more responsibilities that they put on you. We have learned all the different areas of all different social media platforms all year and throughout learning about them and being able to work with them at the same time was amazing. I have touched on how I enjoy working in social media before and hope that its in my future job but now I am applying to social media jobs because I felt that I could succeed with that career.
